What a start of the tournament. New Zealand wins the first T20 match of the T20 World Cup 2010 against the strong Srilanka side. A target of 136 was given by Srilanka after winning the toss that Newzeal and successfully chased to spare only one last ball. Match won well by mere two wickets. West Indies has won their opening match against Ireland in the ICC World T20 world cup. The hosts have won the match by 70 runs. West-Indies playing first scored 138 runs in 20 overs and bowled out the Ireland team for just 68 runs. Highest scorer from Ireland was GC Wilson who scored only 17 runs. Afghanistan is participating in the T20 World cup for the very first time. As a new team, they have done a decent job in their first match of T20 World Cup 2010. Against India, in 20 overs, they made 115 for 7. India completed the score in the 15th over at a loss of only three wickets. M. Pakistan team was the favorite in this match right from the beginning but it was not a free ride for them anyway. Pakistan won the match by 21 runs. Pakistan, playing first got a superb start from the openers and both openers Salman Butt and Kamran akmal scored 73 runs each. Rest of the batting line was a disappointment. The team could reach 172/3 in 20 overs. Bangladesh responded well and at a time when Ashraful and Shakeebul Hassan were playing, it seemed they will actually reach the target with a few balls to spare, but then wickets started falling frequently and they could make only 151 runs in the 20 overs with a loss of 7 wickets. The stage is set for ICC T20 World Cup 2010. The tournament starts today with total of twelve teams participating in the tournament. The teams that are playing the world cup include Pakistan, Bangladesh, Australia, Srilanka, Newzealand, Zimbabwe, South Africa, India, Afghanistan, West Indies, England and Ireland. Pakistan, being the defending champions and Australia being all time performers are being declared favorites for the tournament. While South Africa, India and Srilanka are the other strong sides. Rest of the teams are more than expected to do some upsets and change the face of the tournament. The teams have been divided into four groups. Top eight teams from the first round will go into super 8 that is actually the quarter finals round. World is ready to witness some exciting cricket in next few weeks. Australian fast bowler and world's second fastest bowler Brett Lee has been ruled out of Cricket T20 World cup 2010 being played in West Indies. Ryan Harris will replace the fast bowler to join the fifteen member squad. Brett Lee has been injured during a warm-up T20 match against Zimbabwe in St Lucia, West Indies. Australian coach Tim Nielson has given some hints that Australian team may spruce up the pace attack by keeping all the four pacemen in one team. This is expected to happen on May 5 in Bridgetown against Bangladesh during the ICC World Twenty20 tournament. The pace attack headed by obviously Brett Lee who is the second fasted Bowler and has recovered from the elbow injury. Chennai Super kings have won the IPL Twenty 20 tournament, a domestic hyped up Indian series. Chennai won the toss and Captain Dhoni, elected to bat first. The team scored 168 runs for 5 wickets in 20 overs. While chasing not so big total, Mumbai Indians could not quite reach it there. The whole team could make 146 for 9 in 20 overs and Sachin Tendulkar's 48 from 45 balls could not save his side. It was no doubt a happening tournament. The series started with the same oomph and glare but there was always something missing as there were no players from Pakistan due to security clearance reasons. Cricket is spreading in USA and to promote the game further, USA will host three T20 international matches next month. The matches will be played between Srilanka and Newzealand. Sami is a seasoned fast bowler who has played 34 tests, 83 ODIs and 15 T20 International matches and brings all this experience as a package to the team that is going to defend T20 World Cup in West-Indies this year.
